Consultant, speaker, and author of 10 books, and over 28 years of healthcare administration including integrated health delivery systems development, health plan provider contracting, healthcare organization life safety and disaster recovery planning, and managed care and global healthcare program development in several countries.

Maria Todd has led the project management of more than 60 integrated health delivery systems, many still in successful operation today, and is a highly-regarded international healthcare industry consultant and contract negotiator who authored hundreds of journal articles, several white papers and ten professional trade books. Since 1989, she has presented more than 2600 educational presentations and keynote addresses on topics ranging from managed care contract analysis, integrated delivery system development, medical tourism, contracted reimbursement, and global healthcare program development.

In her role with Mercury Healthcare as CEO, she establishes and directs the vision and mission of the team. In this capacity, she is the source of visionary strength of the company and keeps it on a consistent track to achieving the vision. Second, she is the project manager and is responsible for directing the operational activities of the company by scheduling the utilization of the company’s resources, including people and capital equipment. Maria gets things done through the efforts of the people in the company and is responsible for establishing and executing the company’s operating plan that is necessary to achieve the company’s objectives. As the leader and coach she has selected the management team and improves the performance of the entire team including the doctors, hospitals and other providers through ongoing counseling. She has a "one of a kind" way of working with healthcare professionals and administrators alike to help them become greater contributors by helping them improve their efficiency and effectiveness.

No stranger to medical travel and service facilitation, prior to her professional education and experience in healthcare, she worked as a travel agent with the American Automobile Association's World Wide Travel agency in the late 1970s, and has coordinated and facilitated medical travel on a casual basis since then. Maria’s  combined professional training and work history amply qualifies to be considered a thought leader in the industry.

The added dimension of her clinical experience and professional training is integrated into her process consulting for clients.  Combined with her academic training and professional experience, her "boots on the ground" experience enables her to interact easily with public safety, IT, disaster recovery, emergency responder and medical case management resource planners while maintaining her sense of humor with calm and organized approach.  This also translates to acumen when evaluating life safety preparedness for hospital, hospitality and facility quality accreditation.  She holds several certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Emergency Management Institute, US Department of Homeland Security.

Maria serves as the President of the Council on the Global Integration of Healthcare, a nonprofit association that supports program development and education in international health and medical tourism.  In her spare time, she enjoys learning foreign languages, cooking, international travel, digital photography, theatre and the symphony and science fiction. Maria also sings and plays several musical instruments.
