John Punnoose, MBA, M Phil.  With nearly 20 years of senior management experience in some  of the largest multi specialty hospitals in the Asian region, John is one of India’s most respected healthcare administrators. He pioneered the Joint Commission International’s quality accreditation movement in India, while as the operational head of Apollo Hospitals New Delhi. He is the President of Oyster International Healthcare Consulting, in Chennai, India, and recognized as an expert by many world leaders.

As Chief Executive Officer of the managed hospitals and consulting division of Apollo Hospitals group, India, he is credited for expanding Apollo’s healthcare consulting business in the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The division managed 20 hospitals (over 2000 hospital beds) across the subcontinent and consulted for nearly 20 Greenfield hospitals across the globe.

Passionate about bringing quality healthcare to the poor and needy, he spent nearly eight years of his career helping built Madras Medical Mission (MMM) one of India’s and the region’s leading nonprofit healthcare organization. MMM is a leading center in the Afro Asian region for extending free and subsidized cardiac care for children and adults.

He was until recently the Chief Executive officer of Royale Hayat Hospital, Kuwait, the world’s first luxury hospital.

An Honors Graduate from Delhi University, he has done Post Graduation in Management  (MBA) and Masters in Hospitals & Health systems Management (MPhil) from the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences Pilani, India. An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad India he is the 2007 Fellow of the Center for Social Innovation, Graduate School of Business, Stanford University

John is a charter member of the Council on the Global Integration of Healthcare and serves on its Advisory Board. Extensively traveled all around the globe, he loves spending quality time with his wife and two daughters near Chennai, India.
