Lisa Beichl, BA, MBA. Is an international health specialist for Milliman Care Guidelines. She is an external consultant in the strategy development for US medical guideline introduction in international markets. She has responsibility for the methodology design including country-specific health economics, health policy development, and intellectual property rights, blending of public and private sector care delivery, and guideline acceptance in non-US countries.
Lisa assist clients to use the International Care Guidelines to support both public and private sector organizations in their efforts to advance quality care delivery, design a customized disease management program, or pursue other important initiatives that can improve healthcare value. The Care Guidelines' international evidence-based content turns complicated studies into functional action steps, based on diagnosis or procedure. That actionable content can be adapted to a variety of health infrastructures and organizational management styles. Specifically, the Care Guidelines can help: • Enhance patient safety • Reduce healthcare costs while improving patient outcomes • Develop evidence-based clinical care management protocols and pathways • Track variances from best medical practices • Support hospital accreditation processes • Identify and reduce ineffective diagnostic tests and procedures • Reduce hospital waiting lists
Prior to her position with Milliman, she was Director of Health Operations at Munich Re and Manager at IHI Danmark and served as a consultant to the US Agency for International Development where she reviewed local Nigerian provider practices and related ability to navigate private health capitation/fee-for-service offering, and developed a training program for providers/practice administrators to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of capitated membership (with a focus on Reproductive Health) including criteria for evaluating the cost/benefit of preventive medical care. Lisa introduced the concept of Activity Based Costing (ABC) as a foundation for practice accounting. She also word as VP and Deputy to the Department Head at Allianz, where she managed a team of international health insurance experts who provided internal consulting services on the technical issues surrounding health insurance projects worldwide for the Allianz Group. While there she a introduced a method of Market Segmentation for international health markets to assist in the process of assessing effectiveness of managed care interventions. Additionally, she word as a Senior Medical Cost Analyst at Keystone Healthplan East.
Lisa has a BA in English and Writing and a MBA in Finance. She is a charter member of the Council on the Global Integration of Healthcare and serves as a member of the Advisory Board and on the Healthcare Reimbursement Community of Practice. She enjoys cooking, skiing, suspense novels and languages and resides near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
