Bill De Marco, MA, CMC, is the former Chief Executive Officer of CLINICARE HEALTH PLAN, startup health plan sponsored by Rockford Clinic Ltd, in Northern Illinois. Prior to this he held executive positions with Blue Cross Blue Shield Minnesota and SHARE Health Plan. He is currently CEO of De Marco and Associates, Board Chair of Gold Star Alliance for Health and a Director of Pendulum Health Care Development Corporation. He is a well-published author on more than 7 books on health management topics. Bill is a past faculty member in the Loyola Law School graduate program and DePaul University Entrepreneurial Business School. His professional insight and personal experience into how health plans and provider groups think and act is essentially unparalleled in the industry.

With experience in payer, self-funded employer and physician-owned health plans, Bill provides insight into American payers of all categories. Backed by more than three decades of experience working for HMOs, consulting for physicians starting their own health plans and teaching providers how to contract directly with employers, Bill knows what payers, providers and large employers think, how they act and what their needs are from a regulatory and licensure prospective. As a member of Mercury Healthcare Advisory Group he will utilize his background to help international providers more effectively meet those needs.

Bill is a charter member in the Council for the Global Integration of Healthcare and a member of its Advisory Board and Healthcare Reimbursement Community of Practice. In his spare time, Bill enjoys playing the French horn with the Cathedral Brass Group and Japanese gardening. He resides with his wife in Rockford, Illinois.
